DUES LETTER; WINTER 2022

Dear Friends;

When I wrote to you last winter, we were unsure of the impact that the vaccines and new anti-viral treatments would have. With the utmost safety of our congregants in mind, and cooperative efforts of our Rabbi, Neal Loevinger, Cantor Len Zimmerman, and others, Congregation Temple Beth-El was able to safely reopen last summer for Shabbat services and the High Holidays. Seating was limited, with open windows and forced ventilation, but we got it done. As the virus wanes, we look forward to the summer of 2022, and a return to normalcy.

As our historic synagogue and Congregation approaches our centennial year (2023), it remains the last operating Conservative Shul in the ‘Borscht Belt’. Like all institutions, it requires continual funding to survive. We hope you will continue your generous support and participation so that we can maintain and upgrade this wonderful temple and cemetery for future generations.

This summer, we will be forming committees to plan and assist in our 2023 centennial celebration. If you would like to help, be sure to contact an officer or Board member.

DUES REMAIN AT 150.00/ FAMILY. It is your dues and donations that sustain our historic synagogue. (Includes cemetery privileges as specified in the bylaws).

Please call Mary-Ellen (518) 339-3219, or e-mail meseitel (at) aol.com with any questions.

SEPT. 1 – HIGH HOLIDAYS IMPORTANT UPDATE!

Dear Friends,

This past summer and the coming New Year and Yom Kippur holidays have posed many problems for our synagogue and its congregants, along with all houses of worship in all religions.

The Covid-19 pandemic has  posed a real threat to  the manor in which we Jews in America have come to take for granted and felt  comfortable celebrating and observing traditions that have  been passed down for millennia, let alone from our parents and grandparents.

After remaining closed for the summer of 2020,  we opened for services this past summer with the optimism of a receding pandemic and available vaccines, but were again  hit with a new ‘Delta’ variant, that seemed to defy our desire for normalcy…., in family life, work,  and all social interactions.

We are pleased to be able to hold High Holiday services in person this year, but sad that it had to be limited in scope and attendance.

NOTICE:   A CONFIRMATION EMAIL WAS SENT AT 2:50 PM EDT TODAY FOR ALL SEAT SEAT RESERVATIONS.  IF YOU DID NOT RECEIVE THAT E-MAIL YOU DO NOT HAVE A SEAT.  No more seating is available due to the strict distancing required to meet the Covid-19 protocol.

For those not scheduled to attend indoors, A Shofar and Tashlich service is open to all at the State Boat Launch in Kauneonga, 2:30 PM Tuesday and a Shofar service is scheduled in the synagogue parking lot at 2:30 PM  on Wednesday WEATHER PERMITTING.

 For those who are unable to attend in person, we have arranged an option to the link below for Zoom services, through the graciousness of Rabbi Susan Elkodsi, of the Malverne Jewish Center. The appropriate Machzorim needed to follow the Zoom service will be available at the synagogue over the Labor Day  weekend, at the lower entrance.

You are invited to a Zoom meeting.
When: Sep 6, 2021 04:00 PM Eastern Time (US and Canada)
