A Message From The Rabbi

Jun 07 2016

Dear Friends:

I’m excited and honored to be returning as rabbi for the summer season, especially after a truly memorable experience of the Days of Awe last year. For those whom I haven’t met yet, I have a “day job” in Poughkeepsie as director of chaplaincy services for Vassar Brothers Medical Center, but before that I was the rabbi of congregations in Poughkeepsie and the Boston area for more than a dozen years. I love teaching, davenning, and making a Shabbat community,  but I also believe that Judaism is a team sport.

Thus you are all encouraged to reach out and share your thoughts about how I can help us spend a summer together that is both joyful and growthful. Perhaps there are topics or questions you’d like me to address during the services, or for some Jewish learning over lunch, or maybe you’ve got a favorite custom or practice from another synagogue you’d like to see incorporated into our worship together?

Let me know! I’d love to hear from any and all of you. My email address is : rabbineal (at) gmail.com. I have a weekly (well, most weeks) Torah commentary at www.rabbineal.net, and I’m on Facebook and LinkedIn. I look forward to seeing you soon, and thank you again for the privilege of joining your community this summer.
Rabbi Neal Joseph Loevinger
